How to eat when we are menstruating

DEAR WOMAN:

Today I want to talk to you about a very daily topic for us and that is menstruation.

When the period is going to come, our body prepares to release what it did not use, it is our way of cleaning each month.

During this process, which lasts approximately 7 to 10 days between preparing to release and then bouncing, our energy changes; we become more sensitive, more irritable and perhaps also more crying, but what is the energy that is moving within us? And how can we help our bodies feel more balanced?

In addition to being a merely hormonal process, there is an energy that spreads within this accumulation during these dates and that is the YANG energy.

Yang energy, which is retention energy, will be reflected in strong emotions, fluid retention and the larger chest.

If we are with fluid retention and very emotional, we must eat foods that sweeten us and lower these high levels of emotion, hormones and yang energy.

The best way to help our bodies is by balancing yin and yang energy through food, as what enters our mouth will be reflected in the way we feel during these days.

It is very important that for a week before menstruation we remove meat, cheese and salt from our diet completely since these foods have such a strong yang energy that it will only increase the pain, making us very irritable and viceral.

The idea is to balance the body, so eating yin foods is a great help. For example with mushrooms, artichokes or radishes, which are diuretic foods, we will be helping our physique to retain water and to lower salt levels in the body.

Another food that can help us a lot is rice milk since it will help us to sweeten our energy making this process increasingly painless and bearable.

Foods such as carrots and sweet potatoes will make us feel less heavy since the intake of yin food and especially sweets, will make the necessary balance for our process.

A good recipe for these days could be a brown rice pudding, spinach with mushroom stir-fry, and a baked apple pie for dessert.

Once we stop bleeding, we can reintroduce yang foods (such as meat, dairy, and salt) to our diet because our body will begin its innate process of balancing yang and yin energy.

I hope I was able to help you with this little article about the energy of women during the menstruation process.
